Global Gastroenterology is a nonprofit, volunteer-led platform dedicated to advancing the field of gastroenterology. It was founded by Omer Usman, MD, who launched the initiative during his first year of residency training at Texas Tech Health El Paso-Tranmountain, inspired by his deep passion for the specialty.
Our platform brings together gastroenterology professionals, students, and enthusiasts from around the world. We host in-depth virtual interviews with leading gastroenterologists, who share their experiences and insights. We also discuss unique endoscopic cases from across the globe and produce short journal club podcasts featuring researchers who explain the significance of their published work.
Beyond education, Global Gastroenterology connects people living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and pancreatic cancer. Our support groups offer a welcoming space for people facing similar challenges to share their experiences, find encouragement, and feel less alone. We also share up-to-date, evidence-based treatment guidelines to help members stay informed.
Through education, research, and mutual support, we aim to strengthen the social and emotional well-being of our community, encourage professional development, and bridge gaps in knowledge and clinical practice across the global gastroenterology community.
